Job Description
As a Bartender, you ensure consistent drink quality by preparing orders in a short period of time and in accordance with recipes and guidelines established by Management. You will also maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area in a fast paced environment, while providing superior guest service.
Specific responsibilities include:

Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.

Verify guests that purchase alcohol are at least 21 years of age.

Inform guests of specials, craft beers, and menu changes.

Take beverage orders from guests and servers.

Understand the server position is a sales position within the restaurant.

Ensure guests receive personalized food and craft beer recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.

Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with HOPS Culture’s standard drink recipes.

Learns the names and personally recognize our regulars.

Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.

Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).

Wash and sterilize glassware.

Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons.

Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.

Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.

Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.

Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar.

Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager.

Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.

Nightly breakdown and cleaning in all areas of the bar.

Participate in the Marketing Program and consistently meet daily/weekly requirements.

Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.

Abide by all state, federal regulations and restaurant liquor policies pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written).

Obtain any necessary alcohol service licensing requirements.

Prefer a minimum of two years of previous bartending experience.

Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.

Have willingness to learn about beer and acquire Cicerone certifications.

Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money, operate a point-of-sale system, and operate a cash register.

Ability to stand, walk, and carry food trays for prolonged periods of time.

Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
