Job Description

As a Bartender, you ensure consistent drink quality by preparing orders in a short period of time and in accordance with recipes and guidelines established by Management. You will also maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area in a fast paced environment, while providing superior guest service.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
  • Verify guests that purchase alcohol are at least 21 years of age.
  • Inform guests of specials, craft beers, and menu changes.
  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
  • Understand the server position is a sales position within the restaurant.
  • Ensure guests receive personalized food and craft beer recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with HOPS Culture’s standard drink recipes.
  • Learns the names and personally recognize our regulars.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Wash and sterilize glassware.
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons.
  • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar.
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager.
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
  • Nightly breakdown and cleaning in all areas of the bar.
  • Participate in the Marketing Program and consistently meet daily/weekly requirements.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Abide by all state, federal regulations and restaurant liquor policies pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

 

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • Obtain any necessary alcohol service licensing requirements.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years of previous bartending experience.
  • Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
  • Have willingness to learn about beer and acquire Cicerone certifications.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money, operate a point-of-sale system, and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry food trays for prolonged periods of time.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
